Atlanta History Center
Riggs Ward Design created immersive, interactive exhibits for Gatheround: Stories of Atlanta at the newly renovated Atlanta History Center, highlighting the city’s history through the voices of its diverse population. The exhibit is organized around four thematic areas: Politics and Justice, Family and Community, Urban Growth and Change, and Cultural Life. These themes provide an inclusive environment where visitors can connect with history and share their own stories.
Building on the center’s commitment to inclusion, RWD developed a suite of media interactives that inspire intellectual, emotional, and creative engagement. A “Share Your Story” recording booth allows visitors to reflect and leave a photo or message for future guests. A dynamic media wall showcases historical and contemporary narratives, while digital kiosks expand on exhibit content with quizzes and interactive experiences. Hands-on activities, such as lifting a kettle like a washerwoman, bring historical experiences to life for visitors of all ages.
By blending tactile and digital elements, Gatheround reflects RWD’s thoughtful approach to accessible and meaningful storytelling, resulting in an exhibit that is both educational and deeply personal.
